Dave is the Director of Emerging Technology Business Development for Microsoft's Windows Mobile organization, based in Redmond, Washington. His primary responsibilities revolve around emerging technologies for the mobile operators that want to deploy Windows Mobile based devices, along with associated applications and partnerships. Dave has been with Microsoft since early 1999, and involved in a variety of mobile devices, services, and server offerings since then. Prior to joining Microsoft, Dave was the Director of Wireless Technology at Wink Communications, where they developed the first graphical micro-browser applicable to both wireless devices and interactive television in 1996. Prior to that, he spent almost 15 years at Bell Laboratories as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff and in other managerial positions, supporting public network technologies such as wireless services, Intelligent Networking (IN), and digital switching. Along the way, he led the engineering team that designed and deployed the first hybrid (private tandem/public IN) corporate network as the Department Head of Engineering at RCA Network Services. Dave is a BS/MSEE graduate of Michigan State University and has been in public network communications for over 25 years. He is a frequent contributor to industry for and resides in the San Francisco Bay area.

David Wisely, Head Six Mobile Convergence Research, BT Group, UK
Dr. Wisely has worked for BT for 20 years in the fields of networks and mobility research. He pioneered optical wireless links in the early 1990s constructing a 4km, 1500nm system using optical amplifiers.
Dave has worked in the field of mobility for the past 10 years, looking firstly at wireless ATM and HIPERLAN type 1 systems and more latterly into the combination of cellular mobile and WLAN systems.
Dave was one of the pioneers of an all-IP solution for future developments of 3G. and currently has responsibility for BT’s 21C network’s convergence research programme. Dave also acted as technical manger for the influential EU IST BRAIN/MIND EU IST project which did much to push forward with all-IP network concepts.
He has contributed over 80 papers to journals and conferences and has published a book entitled "IP for 3G" and currently is in charge of all convergence research and development at BT.

Erik Ekudden, Vice-President, Head of Standardization and Industry Initiatives, Ericsson, Sweden
Mr. Erik Ekudden is Vice President, Head of Standardization and Industry Initiatives, for the Ericsson group. During more than 15 years of extensive engagement in the area of research, innovation and standardization, he has developed and led Ericsson’s global network within standardization and industry relations resources.
Through industry cooperation in global bodies such as 3GPP and IETF, Mr. Ekudden has established strategies in order to drive innovation and secure Ericsson’s technology leadership. Throughout his career, Erik has been a driver in leading edge technologies and strongly believes that mobile broadband technology benefits individuals and society as a whole.
Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Ekudden was Director of Research in multimedia services in Ericsson. He holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Jürgen Schindler is heading LTE Business Development in Nokia Siemens Networks where he is in charge of the LTE product strategy, industry representation and consultation of Nokia Siemens Networks customers on LTE and I-HSPA business opportunities.
From 2004 to 2007 Jürgen was heading Portfolio Management Radio and was responsible for the Siemens Mobile Network Product Portfolio and Product Strategy for all Radio Technologies.
Prior to this appointment after 2001 Jürgen was heading a department being responsible for Network Engineering where Siemens was able to significantly improve the accuracy of Planning and Optimization of Mobile Networks.
Before this position, Jürgen headed for three years the 3GPP 3G Radio Standardization of Siemens. Siemens was a major driver in the UMTS FDD and TDD Standardization and did deliver significant support for the definition of the Chinese LCR-TDD Standard.
Jürgen started his professional career in 1997 doing research on 3G Technology for Siemens in different EU Projects.
Jürgen is married, has a son and is living in Germany near Munich. His recreational interests include traveling, skiing, golf and international relations.

Massimo BARBIERO joined Telecom Italia in 1996. Currently he is with the Program and Vendor Management department, where he is involved with identifying Telecommunications trends, defining scenarios of evolution ICT and consequent impact on communication services. During 2005 he collaborated to several activities on Fixed-Mobile Convergence. From 2001 he has worked to strategically support technological innovation in the Mobile Service area of TIM with the role of Project Leader. In 1999-2000 he was involved with the economic evaluations of 3G business model for TIM ad attended 3GPP SA1 Working Group. He initially worked on testing Mobile Core Network Equipment. He graduated in Electronic Engineering at the Politecnico of Torino in 1994 and afterwards obtained a Master Degree in Telecommunications.

Matts earned his PhD from Stockholm University and State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1993 and continued with research in the area of Neural Networks in at Nordita in Copenhagen.
After a few years at Ericsson developing radio network functionality he became responsible for UMTS development at Telia Research in 1997. Among other duties he represented Telia in numerous standardization and international operator organizations.
In 1999 Matts moved to Telia Mobile with the Nordic responsibility for UMTS and common VAS platforms.
After the merger between Telia and Sonera, Matts became responsible for the TeliaSonera group mobile network strategies and synergies a work that he continues as Head of Product and Technology Strategy within the Business Area Mobility Services.

Rémi THOMAS was born in 1959. He graduated from the "Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications" (Paris) in 1982.
He joined CNET (today known as FT R&D), the research institute of France Télécom in 1983. He joined in 1987, still at CNET, the team in charge of research and standardisation for GSM.
From 1989 to 1999 he contributed to the plenary of ETSI/SMG.
From 1995 to 1999, he chaired ETSI/SMG7, the ETSI sub technical committee in charge of the testing and type approval of the GSM Mobile Equipment.
In 1999 he joined France Télécom Mobiles (today known as Orange France) which operates the largest GSM network in France.
In Orange France Rémi THOMAS has been director of the "UMTS network project" the purpose of which was to coordinate the technical actions of Orange France to build a UMTS network. This eventually included the HSDPA launch in Orange France.
Today Rémi THOMAS is Director of the NGMN project of France Telecom Orange and Head of the network strategy of France Telecom Orange.
Rémi THOMAS spoke in numerous technical conferences; he contributed to "GSM and UMTS - The creation of Global Mobile Communication" which is the GSM history book. He is on the « GSM Roll of Honour list » released in 2001 by the GSM Association.
Roberto Minerva, Manager, Telecom Italia
Roberto Minerva is a focal point for Technological Trends within the Long-Term Research and Scientific Department of Telecom Italia.
Roberto graduated in Computer Science from Bari University (Italy) in 1987 Summa cum Laude. Since 1987 he was involved in the definition and development of distributed applications and Service Architectures for Telecom Networks (such as TINA, OSA/Parlay and SIP - based architecture). From 2000 Roberto worked in the development of IMS and Wireless Architectures; and, from 2003 to end 2005, in the definition of convergent services and solutions for the Business Market.
He held various responsibilities within TILAB: Network Intelligence, Wireless Network Architecture and Fixed Access Network Testing Labs Area Manager.
Robyn is Regulatory Counsel at T-Mobile (UK), a position she has held for 5 years. Her job involves the legal aspects of all regulatory matters, including spectrum, and competition law. She also heads up the regulatory and competition department. Her responsibilities include all spectrum matters, competition litigation, major transactions and advising on the regulatory aspects of mobile tv.
Prior to joining T-Mobile she was a partner at Linklaters for 11 years, heading up their communications practice. In her deep dark past she worked in television for 3 years for Rupert Murdoch in Australia.
Scott Wickware, Vice President, Marketing and Strategy, Carrier Networks, Nortel As Vice-President, Marketing and Strategy for Nortel’s Carrier Networks business, Scott is responsible for charting the overall business and Go To Market strategy for Nortel’s largest business. Additionally, he is responsible for all aspects of commercial, product and strategic marketing. Scott has offices in both Châteaufort (Paris), France and Richardson (Dallas), Texas, USA. . Scott joined Nortel Networks from IBM in 1992. Prior to his current appointment, he held various technical, management and executive positions within Nortel in functions including engineering, technical sales, product management, sales and marketing. Scott is a Canadian citizen and has lived and managed organizations in Canada, France, the UK, Singapore and Australia. He was most recently responsible for business operations of the EMEA sales region for Nortel’s entire portfolio. Scott holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and History from Queen’s University, Canada and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) of INSEAD, France. Scott is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario, Canada and sits on the Board of Directors of both CTIA and the Wireless Foundation. Scott and his English wife Denise live in Paris, France. His hobbies include tearing up the bumps and powder with his skis, running long distances, international travel and cooking. Scott sits on the Board of Directors of both CTIA and the Wireless Foundation

Dr Shahram G Niri is an expert in telecommunications with more than 18 years experiences in the field of mobile communication technology, mobile services and applications and computer networking. Currently he is Director of Strategy in Network Solutions Divisions, NEC Europe. He obtained a PhD in mobile communications in 1999 and an MSc in Telecommunication with distinction in 1995 both form the University of Surrey in UK. He has worked as a senior manager for a number of companies such as R&D, operators and manufacturers and other sectors in mobile industry and also provided consultancy to a wide range of clients such as network operators, service providers, blue chip manufacturer, government and regulatory bodies and many other R&D sectors. He holds several patents in mobile communications and has published over 45 technical papers and articles in this field in refereed international journals and conferences as well as in magazines. He has also been a reviewer for several books as well as international conferences, IEE and IEEE journals and other publications.

Thomas Edwall Director, Product Management Mobile Backhaul Solutions, Ericsson, Sweden
Mr. Thomas Edwall is the Director of Product Management for Mobile Backhaul Solutions within Ericsson, with a broad background within IP Multimedia Sub-system (IMS), Public Ethernet and Radio Access Network (RAN) solution areas.
Since joining Ericsson in 2000, Thomas has worked within Technical product- and systems management and Strategic business planning across different portfolio areas for fixed and mobile networks.
Prior to joining Ericsson, Mr. Edwall held a variety of project- and systems management positions within the telecommunications industry.
He holds a Master of Science in Engineering and Business Management from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm with special degree in Telecommunication, and an advanced course in Strategic Management from the Business School of Economics in Stockholm.

Dr. Toru Otsu, President & CEO NTT DoCoMo Labs Europe
Toru OTSU was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1960. He received the degrees of B.Eng., M.Eng. and Ph.D. in Global Information and Telecommunications from Waseda University, Japan in 1983, 1985, and 2002, respectively. In 1985, He joined Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT). Since then, he was involved in research and development projects of satellite and mobile communication systems. From 1992 to 1993, he was a visiting researcher of ENST, Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications, France. Since he joined in the Wireless Laboratories of NTT DoCoMo in 2000, he was engaged in research and standardization activities of the fourth generation mobile communication system. In 2003, he moved to DoCoMo Europe in London as Deputy Managing Director. On June of 2005, he was appointed to President & CEO of DoCoMo Communications Laboratories Europe GmbH in Munich.

Trond Wiborg, CTO & VP, Telenor, Norway
Trond Wiborg is 53 years old, married, have three daughters and lives just outside Oslo.
He is Master of Science from University of Oslo. His first job was as a researcher in Norwegian Computing Centre where he worked with different map applications. Afterward he worked as IT Manager in Norsk Hydro, as IT Director in the newspaper Aftenposten and Tybring Gjedde AS. The last 12 years Wiborg has worked in different manager positions in Telenor, mostly in Telenor Mobil. He has had different responsibilities as Maintenance and Operations, Planning and Building, Product Management and Product Development. Now Mr. Wiborg is Director Technology Strategy and Architecture (Fixed and Mobile) in Telenor Norway.

Uwe Löwenstein, Manager Spectrum Technology, Telefonica o2, Germany
Based in Munich , Uwe Löwenstein is responsible for the Telefonica O 2 Europe group activities in terms of spectrum management, frequency coordination and Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC). In addition he supports the local operating businesses in their representation towards the national Regulatory Authorities.
To fulfil this task he is active in various national and international standardisation fora (e.g. ITU, CEPT, 3GPP, ETSI) to support and monitor the development of standardisation in the areas of mobile technologies and new emerging technologies like ultra-wide-band and new wireless access.

Yves Bellégo, NGMN Spectrum Working Group & Director of Spectrum Strategy & Planning, Orange France
Yves Bellégo, began his career in 1988 in IT engineering. In 1991, he joined the research center of France Télécom, where he worked on the standardization of GSM. He accompanied the phases of GSM and UMTS deployment and expansion with various positions within France Télécom and Orange. He was responsible for radio engineering and for the microcellular and dual band 900-1800 projects. He is currently director of spectrum strategy and planning in Orange.
