WiMAX-embedded netbooks come to Russia

Samsung and Yota, a Russian mobile WiMAX operator, have announced the introduction of what they say is the first '4G' ready netbook (mini-notebook) in Russia.
A modified Samsung NC10 netbook, the new device has a built-in mobile WiMAX module plus software to connect to Yota's 802.16e network.
Weighing just 1.33Kg, the NC10 is capable of running up to nine hours 40 minutes on battery power. Its lightness and battery stamina are attributable to Intel's Atom processor, billed as the smallest and lowest power processor of its kind.
The NCIO joins other Samsung devices from Yota, namely a USB modem and an express card. Yota also offers a dual-mode WiMAX/GSM manufactured by Taiwanese gadget-maker HTC, dubbed HTC MAX 4G.
The sales of Samsung NC10 4G netbook will start on 23 March at a recommended retail price of RUB19,990 (around $600).
